“I am studying at Preston University for a Business Information Technology degree. As part of my degree I am required to work for a year in industry, which is how I came to work for Aggregate Industries.

I joined the company in June 2002 as a member of the HR department, working for the UK Training and Development Manager UK, and my job role was to train employees at Aggregate Industries to use Microsoft Office software packages.

I moved from my home town in Lancashire and currently live in Leicester, near to where I was based for the placement period. However, 75% of my working week was spent visiting some of our 300 sites around the UK, delivering training to members of staff at all levels.

My time here gave me the opportunity to work in a dynamic job role. With this I have gained invaluable experience and have an excellent starting point for a future career with Aggregate Industries. I was been given a real job in a real working environment and have been treated as part of the team. Aggregate Industries supported me in my development throughout the year and enabled me to tackle the responsibilities I was given.”
